we’re thinking of you
While reflecting on how to celebrate our students this year, our team wanted to do something extra-special for your class. We tried to think about what we could get you that would make a positive impact on your future, particularly given the degree to which your class has been negatively impacted this spring.
LOOKING TOWARDS THE FUTURE
We ultimately decided to bypass a tangible present for something a little out-of-the-box: a professionally-optimized LinkedIn profile. Think of it as our way to set you up for success in college and beyond!
From on-campus jobs to research opportunities to summer internships - and yes, even sorority or fraternity rush - there will be a lot of people looking you up online in the years to come. It’s important to make sure that you have a web presence that aligns with your goals.
Let’s talk details
what you’re getting
We’ve contracted with a professional early-career coach to provide each of our graduating seniors with a 30-minute LinkedIn profile strategy session and a post-session review with suggested edits. Of course, we have covered all of the costs for this (and it’s not a sales pitch of any sort - there will be absolutely no follow-up after the post-session suggested edits as described below).
WITH WHO?
Jayana Garvey is a Senior Director at Marriott and led their entry-level program to recruit, hire, and develop recent university graduates all around the world. She is excited to work with all of you and has signed a non-disclosure agreement with us, so you do not have to worry about the privacy of your information during your meeting.
Book your session
We have time slots available in both June and July, and you can go ahead and book using the link below whenever you are ready. During the booking process, you will answer questions to help her prepare for the session, such as your future school and major. Some of you created a resume with us - if you have one, feel free to upload it. You can also upload your activities list from the Common Application.
There are more than enough dates and times available, but they are also first-come, first-serve as we had to book dates on her calendar in advance. Reserve yours soon so that you can grab a slot that works for you!
DURING THE MEETING
Wondering if you need a profile picture? Do recommendations matter? What if you have nothing to say? Whether you are already active on LinkedIn or are more of a Snapchat fan, Jayana will meet you where you’re at. She will provide you with actionable tips and advice to showcase the transferable skills that you gained during your high school years (even if you aren’t sure what they are yet!).
POST-MEETING Homework
At the end of the session, she will follow up with specific directions for you to use as you create and update your LinkedIn profile on your own. You will then have five days to do the work you discussed and respond back to her with a link to your profile. You’re also welcome to follow up with any questions that came up as you were working on it or discussing it with your parents.
FINAL EDITS AND REVIEW
Within a few days, Jayana will review your profile and provide you with suggestions for a final round of updates. She will also answer any questions you have - and you’ll be ready for a lifetime of networking!
